A binational alliance to transform higher education.

Mission
To foster cooperation in higher education between Mexico and the United States, promoting student and faculty mobility, knowledge transfer, and academic innovation to drive regional development.
Vision
To consolidate itself as an international benchmark in cross-border educational collaboration, a model of academic integration, and an engine of opportunity for the CaliBaja region.
Our History
CHEC was born as a response to the need to build a binational framework for higher education that supports the region’s economic growth. Its work focuses on connecting institutions, eliminating barriers, and creating synergies that benefit the communities of both countries.
Closing Talent Gaps in the CaliBaja Region
The institutions that form part of CHEC (Calibaja Higher Education Consortium) drive the creation of articulated binational programs, student and faculty mobility pathways, best practice networks, and joint projects aimed at closing talent gaps and strengthening the competitiveness of the CaliBaja region. This is based on a binational analysis conducted by Consortium member institutions, which reveals a growing demand for bilingual and highly skilled talent in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, medical devices, logistics, and manufacturing in the CaliBaja region, as well as the urgent need to strengthen technical skills, leadership, adaptation to new technologies, and artificial intelligence.
